Boral's brokers have told fund managers that the retail shortfall auction is covered at $5 a share, ahead of the midday close.
Citi, JPMorgan and Macquarie were in the market with about 51 million Boral shares, seeking buyers for stock left over from the retail portion of the building company's rights issue.
