JAMES Packer’s Crown Resorts is reportedly planning massive cuts across the casino group, selling flagship golf courses, axing major sporting sponsorships and even reviewing its fleet of private jets for high rollers.
Crown is reeling from the arrests of several of its staff in China last year for alleged gambling crimes, and has suffered a collapse in demand from visiting Chinese high-rollers.
Crown’s new executive chairman, John Alexander is undertaking the broad review of costs, expected to be finalised by June 30, The Australiannewspaper reports today.
Crown is expected to drop its sponsorship of Australian Cricket captain Michael Clarke, and the Melbourne Storm NRL team, as well as the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
It is also expected to end its sponsorship of The Oaks, The Australian reports.
The future of Crown’s three Bombardier Global Express XRS aircraft, used by the company’s biggest gamblers is now uncertain.
The company did not comment on the plans.
