Theojess1, when I spotted the Viago Lode discovery in the announcement in July 2018, I was intrigued by the new orientation of mineralisation discovered. Now there were two orientations of mineralisation. One orientation was sub-vertical (Bellevue and Tribune Lodes). The other sub-horizontal (Viago Lode).

To form this, I believe that the sub-vertical structures formed prior to mineralisation during a phase where the continental crust was being extended. It is during extension that steep structures are formed. But no mineralisation at that point in time.

Subsequent compression would have shortened the continental crust and resulted in the reactivation of these sub-vertical structures (reopening these structures, also known as dilation) and the formation of reverse thrust faults and other sub-horizontal structures. It is this compression that would have resulted in mineral bearing hydrothermal fluid upwelling due to heat generated by granites. This hydrothermal fluid would have flooded the reactivated and newly formed structures, resulting in the two different orientations of mineralisation.

After the mineralisation, there have been other phases of compression because we see unmineralised flat lying structures that offset the sub-vertical lodes. These flat lying structures are similarly orientated to the Viago Lode and are preferentially exploiting the pre existing architecture. This pre existing flat lying architecture is likely much greater than just one flat lying structure. More to come.
