Austal Limited (ASX:ASB) says it has been awarded a modification to an existing contract to provide $8.5 million worth of special studies and analyses for the Littoral Combat Ship program.
The work, due for completion within the next 12 months will be performed in Alabama and Massachusetts in the US.
The Western Australia-based company is involved heavily in the design and building of combat ship and high speed vessels for both the US and Australian navies as well as government agencies globally.
Austal produced a net profit of $29 million for the first half of the 2015 financial year.
