Austal Limited (ASX:ASB) has scored a contract modification from the US Department of Defense.
The department has awarded Austal’s US subsidiary a $US7.2 million modification to a previously awarded Littoral Combat Ship contract.
The ship builder says the cost-plus contract modification exercises options for post-delivery support of Littoral Combat Ship 8 of the Littoral Combat Ship program.
Austal is poised to perform the planning and implementation of deferred design changes identified during the construction period.
The company advises work will be performed in Alabama, Massachusetts and California and slated for completion by October 2016.
Austal reported a net profit of $31.9 million in the 2014 financial year.
