THESE aerial shots show the true scale of the changes our state has seen in the past 10 years.
Aerial imagery company Nearmap has captured 10 areas that have seen dramatic change over the past decade.
“As we’ve documented the changing face of Sydney over the past 10 years, we’ve tracked the exponential growth of Sydney’s population in bustling new suburbs like Oran Park in Sydney’s southwest,” Nearmap CEO Rob Newman said.
“This includes the multi-billion-dollar-redevelopment of Barangaroo, the construction of the Western Sydney Stadium, and the transformation of Harold Park Paceway into a major residential complex.
“Using lightweight planes equipped with patented aerial imagery technology, we regularly capture major metropolitan hubs, regional towns, and select rural communities across the country.”
The pictures reveal how the western suburbs have seen tremendous growth, with the likes of fun park Wet N Wild springing out of nowhere, while the north west has transformed with The Ponds, one of the fastest growing suburbs in Sydney according to Urban Growth NSW in 2015.
The photos capture Spring Farm a decade ago as a farmland and today packed with housing development.
Darling Harbour has also transformed significantly in the past decade, while Newcastle’s city centre lost three train stations and gained a transport interchange.
“All of us at Nearmap are eager to observe Sydney’s next stage of growth in the next decade,” Mr Newman said.
