Tina. Your environmental agenda is admirable but very misguided.  Most ecco warriors and activists like yourself dont realized that 'electricfication' of home cooking and heating will not be the solution to reduction of CO2 emission unless the electricity comes from 100% renewable (an impossibility that even the clean energy die-hards had to admit),
Let me ask you this.  Where is the additional electricity supplies will come from for this new demand? Currently the penetration of renewable-sources electricity supplies is about 10%, all international reports for renewable destemand outlook by 2030 is about 30% with current technology.  The rest come from gas, nuclear and others.
The grid system and technology is already currently struggle to handle the intermittent nature of renewable energy.  If new electricity demand (from your electrification of your home cooking and heating) come on the grid it will drive the price of electricity sky rocket and the fuel poverty population will have to pa,y and compete for electricity with other industries.  And I am not sure if the current grid and power line can handle new electricity demand from electrification of home heating and cooking.  It already faces challenges from electricification of transportation push.
In terms of energy efficiency, electricification of home heating, cooking is the least efficient way to utilized energy from burning gas.  When you burn gas to generate electricity via gas turbine it will lose 20% of its energy (gas turbine efficiency) during the generation of electricity.  That electricity will lose another 30% during its transmission through the power line to reach the customer. So it is more efficient to burn gas in a boiler because all the heat and energy will go directly into heating your home and cooking pot.  Similar argument can also be applied against the electricification of transportation.  When you burn fossil fuel in combustion engines all or most of the energy it produces will go into mechanical power. Whereas if you turn it into electricity before transmit it to the consumer you will lose another 30% through its transmission via the power line.
But currently 85% of 35+million homes and business burnt gas for home heating and cooking. I am not sure if they will abruptly stop using gas by 2030.  The practicality, efficiency and cost of gas boiler and cooking is still popular and make more senses for now until new technology come along. IMHO.
