In Australian 18/6/18
reported that Exxon now looking into competing in the LNG import terminal space
Now there are 2 proposals and one possible proposal(Exxon)
Proponent, Location, Proposed start date, Macquarie research estimate of operating and lease cost per gj
1.Exxon (plus BHP ?) ,Longford Vic , 2022, 98c/gj
2.AGL , Crib Pt Vic ,2021-22, $1.29/gj
3.Andrew Forrest & JERA& Marubeni , Pt Kembla NSW , 2020, $1.19/gj
The VIC offshore fields are depleting rapidly so the gas imported would make up that shortfall
and maintain supply possibly cheaper than importing gas by pipeline from QLD
How many of these LNG import terminals are needed?
You would think that 3 might be 2 more than enough.
Seems like a repeat of the Gladstone debacle where there was little cooperation.
