SOLGOLD
Further to Waiken^s insight to the Newcrest article in The Australian, I post further tweets by Solgold on Twitter relating to this. Solgold tweeted the said article on 15 Nov 2017 .
This was followed up with a R/T with a link to an article: "What makes for a Copper Porphyry Takeover Target"-InvestingNews.com on 17 Nov 2017.
Then, Solgold tweeted again the said Newcrest article in The Australian on 17, Nov 2017.
RECAP
In my last few posts, I asked if a Major was already on board or waiting to come on board .The normal pattern is for a Major to take the 51% stake in any Tier 1 project so that they technically become the operator. There are also other combinations of lesser %.
One cannot presume that Newcrest would be t h e major even if they own 14.5% in Solgold. So the said Australian article is interesting in that it comes from the horse^s mouth ie Newcrest via a press article in Australia.
I said that in a previous industry management report, they advised mining Majors to do joint ventures with junior miners. However, as Berenberg Bank has pointed out the Majors long term inventory are running thin [para phrased].
So, the said Australian article is insightful as we are now aware that the majors are moving towards their normal "re-stocking". In other articles I have read, majors call it moving towards growth via a different terminology.
MINING DISTRICTS
The said Solgold tweet re: "Copper Porphyry:One of the World^s Most Valuable deposit types" [Link to article: "What makes for a copper porphyry Takeover Target.-Investing News"] illustrates that Majors are now moving towards not just Tier 1 projects but Joint Ventures [or takeovers] for mining districts.
<>CASCABEL-Ecuador
From all the various presentations Solgold, the co has stated that Cascabel is potentially a 10 Billion tonne copper gold porphyry: "Estimated aggregate targets up to 10Bt @0.6% Cu & 0.6% Au (1% Cu Eq) [Map-Page 5 Nov 2017 Solgold Presentation ] www.solgold.com.au/presentations/
Cascabel consists some 14 targets of which Alpala is one. So, it would appear that Cascabel is a mining district if and when it is proven up. Currently, investors are waiting for the planned Maiden Resource Statement for Alpala by end 2017. www.solgold.com.au [Check latest RNS/Announcements]
YUKON
It does appear that Majors are moving towards mining districts. Ref: "Newmont joins Gold Staking Rush in Canada."-6 Mar 2017 [re:Gold District in Canada^s Yukon Territory]
Link: www.goldstrikeresources.com/main/home.php?page_id=1 [See middle section pdf]
Goldstrike has signed an agreement wherein Newmont has provided an investment which Goldstrike Resources is utilising to drill in their project. [See right of page]. Please check.
It is always good to check for other examples ie current or historical.
<>NICHOLAS MATHER-
From the Horse^s Mouth, 14 Nov 2017
-Solgold has just written a Blog via a tweet dated 14 Nov 2017: "Our pan-Ecuadorian blueprint for success..find out more...with link."
Quote:
"In the past, juniors had to go to majors to get their projects developed but now there are broader options available to finance development, Mather told the Mining Journal. "
"The Capital Markets are deep and the expertise is available to build mines yourself."
"We believe that there is potential in Ecuador for several projects that will utimately m a t c h or e x c e e d the Cascabel project, he says."
"...targeted identifying FIVE TIER 1 copper-gold porphyry targets across the expanded portfolio."
This blog also gives a summary of the 14 potential targets on Cascabel etc.
CONCLUSION:
So, it does appear from the above, the majors are moving towards mining districts and not just Tier 1 projects as in the past. So, an interesting new trend? From the above info, we are now aware that Solgold is hedging their position/s.
This Solgold story will run and run and we await to see developments on whether the co will take the project/s on themselves or go with a major/s. The said blog also mentions the New Discovery in Southern Ecuador ie La Hueca. Solgold also mentions the various majors in Ecuador via this said blog.
I provide the said links. As for the other mentions, I have posted the links before so I will not repeat. Please check as there can be errors.
