Hi Alipuka Newcrest are a large company looking to do large deals. Their MO is to find tenements for little cost with grass roots risk or buy existing exploration assets that are derisked and ideally deeply discounted ie SOLG.
In the YE 30.6.17 they had 492 Mill of cash and cash equivalents up from 53 mill at 30.6.16. Do I hear the expression Building a War Chest making sweet melody in my ears.
Their free cash flow was 739 mill. Their reduction of debt that year was 608 Mill. Is their balance sheet being prepped? Their net assets were 7.5 Billion. Could they swallow SOLG at its current market cap? Easily. Would they offer their shares for SOLG shares? They can do what they like.
Would Newcrest directors and shareholders be handsomely rewarded if they got SOLGS existing assets and its gargantuan collection of potential tier one targets at a bargain price? Hell yes. What is the effect on DGR if this transaction transpires? Guess.
