In order to compare the offerings, it should be compared on a geographical basis as the requirements for nurse call system are different, dependant upon the region.
Rauland Responder V is generally considered the "Gold Standard" in nurse call systems for the United States and larger acute care hospitals and integrates many of the functions that traditionally are provided by the clinical middleware providers. Larger Acute care facilities and commercially focussed regions look towards deeper clinical systems integration to drive efficiency and cohesion throughout health.
Ascom of the other hand also has an excellent product, with the acquisitions of multiple nurse all vendors and additionally there own product suit, inclusive of clinical systems integration as well as being a "full service" provider of wireless telephony and middleware.
Once deep levels of clinical integration are achieved, then higher level functionality of the nurses station is then required, such as staff allocation, bi directional messaging and inter-ward and inter-unit integration.
As a result of the above US nurse call systems tend to be substantially more technically advanced than their Australian and European counterparts.
