Actually I didn't expect anything but it would have been a nice surprise.

For the life of me I don't understand why they are not communicating.

I reckon the SP would be better had they said, this went wrong and we made a mistake here and there, but we have identified the shortcomings, have a plan to rectify it and require your future support.

Simple as that. Not talking is the worst option, magnified by the fact that the story is in China and no one can go and have a look first hand.
