There are a few exciting things coming up for the company which could explain the recent rise and any further short term gains.

    1) Drilling is about to commence at Obi Gold. Latest quartely states "A site visit to the area was recently completed by a company geologist and two drilling
contractors to inspect access and ground conditions, with no adverse results. A drilling company is expected to be appointed within the next week or so with the intention of commencing drilling as soon as possible."

So a drilling contractor could be appointed this week and drilling could start very shortly. Sampling conducted by Ashburton has results ranging from 4.3g/t to 42.3g/t with an average of 16.17g/t (as per the quartely) which is quite high grades. So if drilling can pick up these grades again then this project could be very exciting indeed.

    2) Mount Webb J/V. The latest quartely states "The Company has progressed negotiations with a potential joint venture partner to fund future exploration of this promising large project in far eastern Western Australia. A detailed announcement is expected to be made once an agreement is signed, which is expected to occur in the March quarter."

This is another major factor that could increase the share price if Ashburton manages to secure a highly regarded company to J/V with.

    3) Yea Gold Project. Latest quartely states "A drilling program is planned for the Triangles area and will commence once weather conditions improve, with a probable start in early March.

So drilling could start in a few weeks with high grades from previous exploration also.

So all in all Ashburton has a number of factors/projects coming up in the short term that could significantly increase the share price and would explain the recent rise in share price as people get set for the significant news flow to come. I for one am all set and waiting in anticipation.
