It is going to be more complicated (read expensive) than a straight EV so less suitable for the daily commute where it is easier (and cheaper) to do a regular charge at home or work. As you point it would work better for the heavy vehicles and long distance drivers. A read through the article gives me more questions than answers so the jury is out for me until more details come to light.
