On SMH's Markets feed,The NSW Labor party plans to a build new state-owned and run energy company with half a million new solar panels on NSW roofs, and plans to support investment in around 6 gigawatts of renewable power as part of its upcoming election promises. Labor is heading to the NSW election with an initiative to bring around 7 megawatts of renewable energy, worth around $9 billion, into the state's grid by 2030, slashing carbon emissions in the process.
These two projects combined could provide enough electricity to power between 3 and 3.5 million homes in the state, NSW shadow energy minister Adam Searle said.
Labor's new proposal would include the construction of 1 gigawatt of state-owned and controlled renewable energy generation and storage, saying it would help drive down household power bills.
