Re: the initial question "who is Thomas Mann?", I can advise you guys that he was involved with Sandfire in the VERY early stages in 2006 when Greg Steemson + Graham Hutton jagged the doolgunna + Boorollola tenements. Sandfire went through a stage of market dis interest before it finally kicked on but I can tell you that Steemson + Tom Mann knew all about what SFR had back then in 2006.
It is the reason why Mann is involved now with RNI (which has the tenements next to SFR), and so one can only surmise his interest in AQR is because he sees another proposition of significant value/potential.
He has connections and will no doubt be hoping to attract some investor interest into AQR - hopefully even from the likes of those invested in SFR.
