The question is who would be attracted to this predicament? Is someone really capable going to want to put his or her roe in this pot? Maybe if there was a large upside in options dangled out there? Offering large amounts of cash fills the position, but I'd rather make the temptation in a prize of options. (Gotta save the cash.)
I personally suspect advertising the position is going through the motions, and ultimately it will be given to Johnston. I wonder if he would accept an options deal in lieu Mercers salary. If he demands the cash then it wouldn't fill me with optimism. Accepting options would express faith. But so far its all been about fattening up from TIS.
