It would be a computer executing an order, and it would be someone accumulating a holding as it is the bid hitting the offer.
In my view (my view only), you would be doing this so that you do not push up the prices if you are trying to accumulate a large amount of shares.
For example if you are trying to accumulate 5m shares, or what ever the large amount is, in the absense of a larger line that the buyer can hit or cross they would simply push the stock up if the constantly hit the bid for larger amounts.
Like I said in earlier posts, it is times like this in the market when everyone has had enough and gets emotional and are uncertain that the sell into this market. It is therefore times like this when those who have the expertise and money look for cheap assets that they can buy at panic levels. That is my view anyway.
You cant get angry at the company for those marginal sellers that sell at these prices, that is their call.
