    It may not have happened for the US expansion, but that doesn't mean it is not a possibility this time. Are you ruling it out for NZ as well?

    It wouldn't be the first time an Aussie business expands into the UK / Europe and one of their existing Australian staff members see it as a good opportunity to progress their career by stepping up and leading the European expansion.

    It doesn't have to happen, but if they expand to the UK, it is more likely to happen than the US, largely just because of our closer ties to the UK (how many NEA staff have British passports versus USA passports, or right to work).

    Who knows, it might actually be seen as a positive on the famous Glassdoor reviews everyone pays so much attention to......anyway, numerous factors will help decide where Nearmap expand to and I can't imagine that will be a deciding factor, but you do have to consider how to staff any expansion.

    As for Germany, the strict privacy laws have been mentioned many times......hence why they expand to the European region and have multiple countries to cover, while they work with Germany around those issues......
