At the end of the AGM, as I was leaving, I saw the newest director, Graham Liebelt, also leaving in a brand new Mercedes S63. His taste in fancy cars certainly has nothing to do with DLX performance, but as an investor, I still prefer to invest in companies run by people who are more.... hmmm.... low profile?
Funny, that and the watch are the first things I look at whenever I encounter anyone involved in the managing of a business.
Also, the location of the head office, the type of furnishings and artwork, and of course, the extent of water views, if any.
And while I would prefer it if the directors and executives of my investee companies all drove cars no better than mine, it would probably be unreasonable to expect them to arrive at work in their slightly dented 2010 model Toyota Hilux's.
