It’s really not hard guys - the UK is decarbonising but will continue to use gas while it does. There is a closing door for gas usage given the aspirations enshrined in treaties by this UK government so it would be ridiculous to try to ramp up a UK shale gas industry with its attendant infrastructure which government forecasts suggest will hardly have started by 2025, as it will end up at best as stranded assets and at worst as an excuse to avoid or postpone our climate change mitigation obligations. Of course if you deny the reality of climate change then you will dismiss the above but then you become part of the problem.
The problem you all face ( apart from Cuadrilla’s seeming inability to drill and frack a well without encountering issues) is that this project is running out of road even if the industry PR was competent enough to persuade the general population that it was desirable or even accceptable in the short term. And that is before we consider the viewpoint of the next government.
