Where there is great wealth, there are people willing to alleviate you of it.
I'm sure the locals know quite well the wealth of their valley. But that doesn't mean they threw a party when the British took over "their mine" in 1900.
It's a basic question, are the locals happy to see outsiders in their valley, or are they wary?
