Heres a scoop straight from the horses mouth. I had a very interesting chat with this bloke last Friday night. There are massive pairs trading positions in CFDs using AZA and BPT. Evidently they are all long AZA and short BPT. Until recently they made a killing but look whats happening now. The difference between the two has changed so that AZA trades below BPT. OUCH! The problem for AZA shareholders is that when they unwind their pairs trading positions - which means selling AZA and simultaneously buying BPT - they could not give a toss where AZA is actually trading. They will sell no matter what the AZA sp happens to be at that moment. All they worry about is the diiference between AZA and BPT. This bloke reckons there are millions of positions still sitting there waiting to be unwound.
