I overlooked this post when it came out but came across it today whilst doing some research after the Omega Man post.

Omega Man got me thinking about the jigsaw of BHP, Olympic Dam and MEP as well as the approval by the SA Gov approval to allow BHP to expand Olympic Dam into the worlds largest open pit.

I googled BHP and Olympic Dam and came up with a whole host of stuff including an interesting article from the Adelaide Advertiser. The post by nolly had previously highlighted the expansion and drew attention to deals done by BHP with 5 tenements south of Olympic Dam.....the companies named were Core Exploration, Straits Exploration, MINOTAUR Explorations, UXA Resources and Monax Mining.

As MEP are explorers and BHP are miners and both have different interests in the same piece of dirt I reckon this is the next sell deal to be made by MEP. They may have to drill a few more holes to make an overwhelming case for BHP to buy, but would BHP want anyone else mining in the middle of the worlds largest open pit mine?

now that's a thought,isn't it?
