i've seen worse not sure if mess is the right term to describe sev current and future financials
it just proves that u can't have your cake and eat it
in sev case it boils down to either the olympics(winter and normal) or having a bid for afl rights up against pbl and ten
whilst the olympics might bring in more advertising$$ overall afl is an easier sell and sport more widly followed and accepted
my gut feeling tells me that sev might have pulled the short straw but long term it doesn't prevent them from having a dip at afl rights later on!
so it might be a case of buying straw hats in winter( and given the expected changes to the media ownership laws) holding out for a murdoch,conrad black or other party to possibly make a bid
