Also, when reading Shortman, maybe the difference between their two lists is simply start of day stats vs end of day stats
e.g. Current position (start of day) vs Most Recent Short Sales (end of day)
i.e. end of day 21st Dec most recent short sales has produced a large increase for start of day 24th of Dec current position
