It seems they've given up on the Bill and are going to continue with the existing Bill.  5 years for zero outcome.

Positive side - Minerals Councils seems on board, removes any potential constitutional threat to the processes behind the review (was always an issue). Takes out a few of the contentious issues such as free carry proposals.

If they can agree on the Mining Charter it should make life a lot easier. The comment period  for the Mining Charter was to finish at the end of July but was extended till the end of August.

Mantashe seems to want to work with Mining Council to finalise the Mining Charter as quickly as possible so along with pulling the Amendment Act, these look like positive signs.

Now all we need is ASX to get a move along.
