Vein graphite is the rarest, most valuable and highest quality form of natural graphite.
MRL Corporation's (ASX:MRF) shares are expected to open firmer after revealing high-grade assays of up to 97.8% TGC (Total Graphitic Carbon) in Sri Lanka.
The graphite vein was intersected last month in just the first diamond hole, with the results now in. Highlights included:
- Interval 91.62m to 92.32m averaged 94.1% TGC with results as high as 95.4% TGC; and
- Interval 97.0m to 97.9m averaged 97% TGC, with results as high as 97.8% TGC.
Assays are from the Pandeniya – Priority 1 Area within the Warakopola Project Area in central Sri Lanka.
The drilling program has been extended.
The significance of the results is that they confirm the presence of high-grade vein graphite within the first licence to be systematically drill tested.
Vein graphite is the rarest, most valuable and highest quality form of natural graphite.
The news flow will continue for the company, with a second hole already underway from the same location.
This will target extensions to the mineralisation to the south-east.
Craig McGuckin, managing director, commented: “The results confirm the presence of extremely high grade vein graphite within the Bopitiya / Pandeniya Priority 1 license.
"These results will assist in the planning towards conversion of this license into an Industrial Mining License following further drilling."
