I am not convinced about the size of the Japanese market. You are right that they do not do much TST testing but this means they do not do much testing for latent TB (x-ray is really only for active TB disease. It will require a massive education program to convince the doctors to test for latent TB and then use QFT.
Although their TB rates are high this is mostly in the elderly (and not in immigrants as in most other developed countries). Due to the toxicity of isoniazid, which is used to treat latent TB, they do not treat older people who are latently infected. If they do not treat they do not test.
I am worried that the Japanese story will not be good and that far fewer QFTs are being performed in Japan than we might expect.
