Losses or gains occur with changes in market values, you crystalise those losses or gains when you sell.
Plenty of companies go bust leaving their shareholders with a share of nothing, following your logic they have not lost either.
The difference here is those companies have gone bust, but Axiom is highly improbable to follow their fate from here.
