More likely steadier Central Appalachian coal prices and rising futures have helped combined with a stronger Aussie. This has been brought about by a rise in March of Columbian coal prices.

In a 2004 overview of the state's coal deposits, Department of Minerals and Energy South Australia stated that applications were under consideration for the:
