I read them twice, once many years ago and later again and took them as plain philosophical treatises, was then told it's all about drug-taking, still don't quite believe it b u t took away just one quote, rule, admonishment by Don Juan: 'even when driving a car, be aware that death is always a passenger - be aware' - but of course, he was talking the 'student' into being careful when partaking of the magic mushies - I think it's a good life rule, not just in cars, to be aware, fully, whatever one does.
