It looks like the 4kg figure is based on an average 50kw Li-ion battery.

What's interesting is the commentary in Rodney Hoopers discussion on CATL regarding Telslas Chinese presence pushing the avg battery size up to 55kw.

If every KW uses 830grams of lithium then a 55kw avg battery size will increase the lithium demand by 1/2kg or 4kg of spodumene. If spodumene was the source.
