About WesTrac WesTrac Equipment Pty Ltd is the Caterpillar dealer for Western Australia and Northern China and is a subsidiary company of Australian Capital Equity, which is a company associated with Mr Kerry Stokes. Established in 1989, WesTrac is one of the larger Caterpillar dealers in the world. With its Western Australian head office located in Perth, on a property extending to 44 acres, it has strategically located branches throughout the state.
In Western Australia, WesTrac’s major customers are from the mining industry but WesTrac is also very successful in the construction, agriculture, forestry, rental and governmental markets.
WesTrac’s ongoing success in service and sales has required that our workforce be continually increased and approximately 1100 people in Western Australia and approximately 350 in China are currently employed by the company, including 164 apprentices to cater for the future needs of the company. Securing and retaining the best people for WesTrac has always been one of the company’s highest priorities and considerable efforts are made to ensure that WesTrac is a great company in which to work. WesTrac have many long term employees and one of our staff recently celebrated his 40th anniversary with the company. A number of other WesTrac people have more than 30 years of service.
Considerable opportunities exist for advancement within the company and extensive promotion is achieved from within. Many of our senior executives, including the existing and previous managing directors are former Caterpillar dealer apprentices.

The Caterpillar Institute also offers training facilities to the various industries in which WesTrac does business.

With the latest in Information Technology equipment, many of WesTrac’s systems have been adopted by Caterpillar dealerships all over the world. Recent advances in equipment to monitor vital performance and production information through radio and satellite links has been huge and WesTrac technicians are at the forefront of this technology.
