It seems to me that John Momis might not yet have got 1987 out of his system; reading the list of statements that @Danehill posted reminded me of his undermining role back then. Hence the incumbency that you refer to is more like an albatross around BCL's neck, as long as he is in a position of influence, notwithstanding the change of circumstances since Rio handed over its controlling shares (which seems to have escaped Momis judging by some of what he said in the ABC interview).
