It doesn’t matter what the government(s) want. With oil in the $25-50 range, the prospect of owning a regular car becomes extremely attractive. The lure for the consumer to switch to an EV tends to fade away.
You can still get very reliable combustion engine cars for sub $10k remember... this is a bracket the EV’s won’t be competing in for a very long time. They’re still a luxury item.
