The former CEO of Omnicom Media Group Australia and New Zealand Paul Davey has joined Mitchell Communications Group.
Following his departure from Omnicom in June last year Davey worked as a consultant, but has now been hired by Mitchells as its corporate director-business performance, joining its Melbourne office last month.
It is a newly created and permanent role with a “wide ranging brief across performance levels of the company,” according to Mitchells Communications Group executive chairman Harold Mitchell.
Davey returned to Australia to take up the regional head position after seven years in the US. During his time there he was the global account director for McDonalds at OMD Worldwide, and was responsible for securing the $US2 billion-plus international media-buying account for OMD while another Australian, Charlie Bell, was the global boss.
Prior to this Davey was the managing director of OMD’s San Francisco office and was previously the national media director at DDB Australia.
During his time as regional CEO at Omnicom, Davey led the decision to launch the PHD brand in New Zealand and Australia, joining other Omnicom media agency brands OMD, Mediawise and Connect.
Davey and CEO of Mitchell Communications Group, Stuart Mitchell, had not returned calls to B&T Today at the time of going to print.
