I'm not so sure about VPR missing the boat. The ATEN technology is targeted at large scale industrial power producing plants, such as remote mine site diesel and gas generators. Technology such as 1414 degree for example, is very, very early days and ultimately relies on wind and solar to charge their batteries. And as for generating revenue from commercial operations, I don't believe that is happening and is still a fair way off happening. 2 things in relation to that tech:

1. Wind and solar farms are very expensive to build and rely on sun and wind to power them, can be unreliable

2. Battery storage is also in experimental phase for being able to power large scale operations. The Tesla battery in Sth Australia, for example, has about 5 minutes of stored power! It's a great marketing tool for Elon Musk but from a practical point of view, it's pretty irrelevant. And it relies on solar.

The most reliable and effective way of producing large amounts of electricity to power a large industrial process is still burning fossil fuels, granted it's not the most environmentally friendly but it will still be the most effective for many years. Yes these new technologies are catching up, but they are a long way away from being commercially viable for someone like NST or any other remote mine sites.

I just think that ATEN has a pretty specific target market, which wind, solar and battery definitely can't satisfy at the moment. I don't think the boat will be sailing for quite a while.....
