Thanks JL, cost is $40 million for, as Porka points out, a 20% reduction in fuel costs. Sure there was a grant of $20m plus debt funding from CEFC of $15m, but is this project commercially viable, I think not.

Maybe in 50 years when the technology is advanced to the stage where you don't need a 20 hectare solar farm with 34,000 solar panels on it. ARENA and CEFC can only fund a very limited number of projects like this, and my guess is there isn't too many listed company boards with an appetite to spend $40 million on a power saving project like this.

Imagine the savings Sandfire could get if they also bolted an ATEN unit onto the existing diesel generators they're still using!!

So.....has the boat sailed on ATEN? I think not!
