Legend gets some encouragement

FRASER Range nickel-copper explorer Legend Mining has been encouraged by a technical success at its maiden diamond drilling of the Rockford project in the prospective greenfields region.

The company said the “occurrence of minor disseminated pyrrhotite/chalcopyrite/pentlandite in two intervals … is considered highly significant” for while the “tenor” is low, “the sulphides are hosted in a cumulative textured gabbro, which is a favourable host for nickel-copper mineralisation”.
Legend is to assay certain sections of the core, as well as undertake petrological analysis.
Meanwhile further geophysics and aircore drilling is planned elsewhere at Rockford, which is located north east of the exciting Nova Bollinger discovery now being developed by Independence.
Legend is estimated to currently have about $A5 million cash, with a further $3 million due to come its way at the end of the year in relation to a previous iron ore divestment.
The company’s Rockford project is a joint venture with successful prospector Mark Creasy.
Shares in Legend were unchanged at 0.8c in morning trade, capitalising the company at $16 million.
