Mincor made the last page of the Shanghai Metals Market (SMM) China Nickel Monthly:
"Mincor Resources, the sixth largest nickel mining company in Australia, is considering cutting output due to continuously falling nickel prices. The company thinks it is necessary to cut output until nickel prices rebound, but will still be able to meet the 8,500 mt output target for the 2015 fiscal year."
I had to check out the "China running low on Nickel" thesis for myself. So I put a web query in with SMM. Michelle Wan emailed me back:
"Sorry for my late response, as I just come back after Chinese Dragon Boat Festival.
My name is Michelle from SMM (www.metal.com ), China largest and most reliable independent metal portal, integrated in benchmark physical price reporting, research and consulting publication, industry events and business matchmaking services.
I learnt that you are looking for information on metals, and I am very willing to share with you the information.
In order to send you the exact information you are looking for, could you let me know your major concerns?
..."
Dear Michelle,
I am looking for more info on Nickel stocks in China. This is because I am deciding whether or not there will be shortfall in Nickel market soon as some in Australia are predicting.
I am only a small time shareholder deciding if Nickel mining stocks are worth buying. Great if you can give me your opinion.
I visited Guilin in China many years ago, very beautiful. This week our governments signed a free trade agreement. Our countries are drawing closer together.
Michelle:
"Thanks for sparing time to share with me your major concern.
Yes, there is speculation that nickel market might be in shortfall. And the attached China nickel monthly report has detailed analysis of nickel supply and demand balance and stocks available.
It also forecasts nickel price outlook.
If it is of help to you, we are more than happy to discuss more with you."
So now I have the June 16th China Nickel Monthly.
I am currently trying to get my head around it as I've not read this kind of report before and I don't know much about Nickel and the Nickel market. Only one way to learn, DYOR.
