An eligible startup must have the following characteristics at the time of joining:
Actively engaged in development of a software-based product or online service that will form a core piece of its current or intended business2,
Privately held,
In business for less than 3 years3, and
Less than US $1 million in annual revenue4
Must be a Privately held company. To me this suggests that things with Microsoft have evolved since Thred's inclusion in the BizSpark Program. They won't be eligible for BizSpark once they go Public. So the ground work theoretically on establishing the tech should have been done through inclusion into the program which would come to an end once they go Public. The Ann reads like they have passed this point as that's where they were originally introduced to each other.. and have now succeeded in establishing a genuine partnership with Microsoft to integrate functionality across products for the benefit of Microsofts business users. That's a big deal if that's the case. That means Microsoft will be offering a whole different level of support outside of the BizSpark Program which can only bode well for us moving forward.
