I suspect the ACCC will see it as providing further competition - even though BP are part of the oligopoly in Aus already. BP really paid up for it, and sounds like they have a plan to compete aggressively to me. It doesn't sound like Caltex and Shell are going to be as profitable if BP wades into the market shouting "Marks and Spencer".
Good news for WOW as they got an extra $1.5B or so, and might (l)earn something extra too.
