The total abundance of cobalt on Planet Earth is estimated at 20-30ppm, including all the concentrated deposits, so background cobalt would be less than that (I've seen 8ppm stated). An anomaly of 209ppm is therefore potentially more than 10-20x greater than the average background level. That indicates the presence of cobalt concentration somewhere nearby, which is the purpose of grid sampling.
