Agribusiness article today in The Weekly Times on a small dairy farm family in Yarram, South Gippsland, with 80 milkers but ambitions to expand to 120. Interview mentions that they are converting herd to A2A2 for Fonterra - the higher milk price being the motivation to go all A2A2 - and, at least for them, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a hassle to convert.

This mention of their conversion could be seen as evidence of farmers taking to the February Fonterra/A2M deal - which, as the milk pools grow, they say will allow a2m to move toward new products and supplying new markets across South East Asia and the Middle East, as announced.

“Larissa’s breeding and replacements program has enabled a rapid move to A2A2 status, with the first test revealing that 82 per cent of the herd qualified instantly.“We only need to remove eight to 10 cows from the herd to become fully A2,” Larissa said. “Fonterra announced it will soon offer a higher milk price for A2 milk, which will be useful.”
