McGowan Government backs local brewer for nib Stadium contract
Friday, 10 August 2018
- State Government awards Gage Roads Brewing Co exclusive beer and cider contract at nib Stadium
- Gage Roads supports local jobs and WA farmers, manufacturers and the hospitality industry
- Fans to enjoy quality, Western Australian-produced beer and cider at events
The McGowan Government is forging another partnership with home-grown Western Australian success story Gage Roads Brewing Co, awarding the local business the exclusive beer and cider contract at nib Stadium.
The latest deal with Gage Roads follows the local brewer's successful eight months as Optus Stadium's beer and cider supplier.
The five-year contract, commencing on August 27, 2018, will ensure the growing WA brand is front and centre at another of Perth's major sporting and entertainment venues.
The contract is a major coup for both nib Stadium and Gage Roads Brewing Co, with the local brewer benefiting from the chance to showcase their award-winning products to the thousands of international and local visitors who watch sport and entertainment at the venue each year.
The State Government is committed to supporting local businesses such as Gage Roads Brewing Co, whose business supports the local economy and local jobs in a range of industries.
The Palmyra-based company is a true Western Australian small business success story, going from local start-up to one of the country's biggest independent brewers.
Gage Roads Brewing Co is the biggest buyer of Wheatbelt-grown malted barley, ensuring WA farmers are able to reap the benefits from the company's commitment to using quality, locally produced ingredients in its products.
Gage Roads directly employs many Western Australians, and also provides spin-off benefits to a range of other industries, including local manufacturing, hospitality and logistics suppliers.
Gage Roads Brewing Co will provide a range of beer and cider options at nib Stadium, including their signature ALBY Crisp, Single Fin Summer Ale, Atomic Pale Ale, Hello Sunshine Cider and Matso's Ginger Beer.
Comments attributed to Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:
"Gage Roads is a true Western Australian small business success story. Its operations proving strong support to local farmers, manufacturers, and the hospitality industry - all while supporting local jobs.
"The State Government is committed to buying local wherever possible and it's fantastic that when Western Australians visit nib Stadium, they will be enjoying beer and cider produced only a matter of kilometres away.
"Gage Roads will increase its production markedly to keep up with the new demand generated by the nib Stadium contract - and that is good news for local jobs and the wider WA economy."
