Despite chairing two failing ASX listed companies, Mark Bouris has now accepted the role of chairman to SME Association of Australia. IMO he checked out of YBR a long time ago.... investing his time in building his personal brand "The Mentor", and milking the last bit of goodwill & credibility from his "Kerry Packer Story".
I watched a video where Mark recommends all business owners need a Plan B, and preferably a plan that provides the softest landing should Plan A fail. Well, for the past 2.5 years I've watched him do exactly that. His PR machine working overtime, spruiking him as the small business owner's champion, the highly successful businessman, pay it forward mantra.... blah, blah, blah. OMG, don't journalists, business organisations, or event promoters do any independent research? A well documented history of financial failures seemingly ignored. Wizard wasn't profitable, but was bought for it's loan book back in home the boom time. And back then, the franchisees suffered the fall out. Is history going to repeat?
Lastly, is there a gag order on YBR franchisees? Are they too scared, too humiliated or too naive to make any public comment. Come on... even if YBR survives the takeover, surely they realise the franchise brand has been fatally wounded.
