I get your point re: salaries, marcs... but if they must vote on the issue now specifically, I'd rather see something with milestones in it as well.
Rather than $15k per month, set some kind of base figure and then tie increases to amounts of gold production. Make the pay reflect performance on the key figure that is going to get us moving.
I know the short-term SP must be tough on them, but it's no less tough on all of us who bought in because we feel management incentives are currently very much aligned with our own interests. Awarding themselves a big salary now will feel a bit like changing "the deal" when there are no concrete results to warrant it (yet!)
And I'd assume that after 3 years they cannot suddenly need to go from 0 to 15k lest their interest disappears altogether. If the prospect of 10s of millions of shares gaining value in leaps and bounds if they make it work in the new year doesn't keep them moving, then I'm not sure I want to know why that might be.
