aimone, I would say BHP are very interested in these potash companies in oz, but at the moment it would just be interest. What the likes of BHP want first are proven JORC compliant resources, they don't want to waste their time on speculation. To prove high quality resources takes a lot of drilling and testing. It can take these small players many years to do this. Once resources are proven is when BHP or the likes would step in to snap these companies up at a fraction of their true value.
Now I don't much about the other Potash companies in Australia but with RUM they should be releasing their JORC estimate at their Karinga Creek Potash Project in the next couple of weeks. I think we can expect some extremely positive results on this announcement.
In my previous post I also stated that the upcoming drilling at Barrow Creek Phosphate will prove a high grade resource. Although these results are further away then Karinga Creek they are at a much more developed stage and will be the results the majors are most interested in as the next step is production.
Make no mistake Barrow Creek is a world class asset with relatively low estimated production costs due to is proximity to railway and the depths that the resource is at. So far there is a MASSIVE JORC resource that would give a 100 year mine life. This is what the majors want, and the next drilling is focused on pin pointing the High Quality Grade so that production can begin.
