If you look at every annual report any aquaculture company has ever put out then you will realize that fish mortality rate is a normal, day to day thing in aquaculture and can seemingly be high for people who doesnt understand how aquaculture works. Look up the annual reports, mortality rate can get as high as 13% sometimes. That's just how aquaculture is. The virus is also not an "outbreak" like some people want to frame it as. The virus is quite common occurence like common cold in humans and fish do catch it all the time especially when condition is not favorable. Human example would be during changing of season and for salmon it is when temperature suddenly spike up to 33 degrees celsius sometime back. It mostly affects young smolts while older fish tend to be able to fight them off. If a company has to declare every little fish and smolts that dies then imagine what that would do to the market, that is why commercial in confidence exist. If there is any REAL outbreak then by law the company or the EPA would have to tell us but nothing has come up....Greenie environmental activist website has a political agenda and they will nitpick like no one business and frame it in a way that would benefit them because thats what they do. People have no clue about the science and operation of an aquaculture farm and thus they can easily be exploited for political gain much like how you somehow become unhappy because of the article. The article was made and tailored to damage and for that effect it succeed in you.
